What the service is

bestphoneplan.fyi estimates which phone carrier and plan would cost your household least, given what you tell us about your lines, how you use them and what each bundled perk is worth to you. It is a calculator built on carriers' published plan terms. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, and we are not a carrier, reseller or agent of one. Whether to switch, keep or cancel any plan is your decision.

About the numbers

Plan prices, fees and perks come from carriers' published terms and each carries the date we last checked it. Carriers change plans and promotions without notice; a number can be out of date before we see it. Check the carrier's own page before acting.
Some prices depend on things we may not model (for example, discounts for a profession, bundles with home internet, or device promotions). Where that is so, we say so.
Every figure is a monthly average over the period compared (two years unless you choose otherwise) and is before taxes. Carriers' own fees are counted where they publish them; government taxes and surcharges are not, and differ by where you live.
Coverage is your own answer: we do not test networks or know how one works at your address.
Travel is priced at the cheaper of the carrier's own way and a travel eSIM bought separately; if you would not buy an eSIM, your cost abroad may be higher.
The value of every perk is the number you give us. The result is only as good as those inputs.
We do not promise any particular result, saving, approval or availability.

Accounts

You may use the site without an account. An account lets you save sheets.
One account per person. Keep your password to yourself. A username account with no email on file cannot recover a forgotten password; you can add an email at any time from the account menu.
You must be 18 or older.
You may delete your account at any time from the account menu.

Free, Pro and Ultra

Free: fill in the worksheet, save one sheet, and see what you pay today and how much the best option would save — without which carrier or plan it is. A free answer counts every perk at $0 and uses the default rules.
Pro ($15 a year): the answer by name — the carrier and the plan on each line — with the perks you value and your own rules counted, the best option on each network, what would change the answer, and every carrier compared. One saved sheet.
Ultra ($25 a year): everything in Pro, plus up to twenty saved sheets, duplicating a sheet, and exporting a sheet to a file and importing one back.
Pro and Ultra are yearly subscriptions and an account holds one of them. Each renews once a year until you cancel. Cancelling keeps the tier active until the end of the period you have paid for. Moving from one tier to the other changes your existing subscription; the difference is prorated by the payment provider. A subscription is tied to your account and cannot be transferred.
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record. Their terms apply to the transaction. Prices shown include or exclude tax as they display it. Prices may change; a change applies from your next renewal, never to a period you have already paid for.
Free grants: we may give an account Ultra with no charge and no end date — either through a code we hand out, or through an open offer anyone signed in may accept from the upgrade window while we are running it. We may end an offer or stop honouring a code at any time; a tier already granted is not taken away, unless a code we gave you was sold or published, which a code may not be.

If we ever shut the service down, subscribers will be given notice and [SHUTDOWN COMMITMENT — e.g. a pro-rated refund of any paid period not used].

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to bypass the paywall, rate limits or other people's accounts.
Do not scrape, bulk-query or resell the service. The plan data we compile is ours; the data you enter is yours.
Do not use the service for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss from relying on its results, including plans bought, fees or early-termination charges paid, device credits lost, or carrier terms that differ from what we show. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; the effective date above changes when we do, and continued use after a change is acceptance of it. These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION].
